When you arrive at the Barcelona–El Prat Josep Tarradellas Airport, you need to have a game plan for how you’ll get into the city. One of the top ways is to use the BCN airport shuttle. Known as the Aerobus, this shuttle provides comfortable and stress-free accommodations that provide further reduction of travel stress. Here's our guide for how to use the BCN airport shuttle.

Although there are multiple forms of transportation to choose from, including other buses, the Aerobus is the best. It will get you to the heart of Barcelona in a reasonable amount of time. You can readily identify them based on their blue hues and prominent display reading “AEROBUS.”
Aerobuses at BCN come from Terminals 1 and 2, which are situated 4 km (2.5 miles) apart. If you’re arriving at Terminal 1, you’ll find the pickup line conveniently located right out front. For Terminal 2, you have three different sections: A, B, and C. You can board from Terminal B and C.
The route from both Terminals makes four stops before reaching Plaça de Catalunya, the city center. It takes approximately 35 minutes to get there from BCN, depending how traffic is. You might elect to get off at an earlier stop, such as Plaça Universitat or Plaça España.
Each terminal has buses running year-round, Monday to Sunday. The T1 buses run on a 10-minute frequency from 5:35 AM to 7:20 AM, a five-minute frequency from 7:30 AM to 10:20 PM, and a 10-minute frequency from 10:25 PM to 1:05 AM. The T2 buses run on a 10-minute frequency from 5:35 AM to 1 AM.
Tickets can be purchased at special vending machines located outside of each terminal or on the bus. Be advised: machines have been known to not cooperate. If you have to buy tickets from the bus driver, you’ll need to have cash on-hand, as they won’t accept credit cards. Keep the bills low, as the driver needs to be able to make change. Fares are €5.90 for a one-way trip and €10.20 for a round-trip, except for children younger than four years old. You need to make the trip back within 15 days in order for your ticket to stay valid.
If you purchase a City Pass, you’ll receive complementary Aerobus tickets. Tickets can also be purchased in advance at Ticketbar.
While on the bus, show courtesy to your fellow passengers by keeping your luggage and other belongings close. Be mindful of your safety and enjoy the surrounding sights as you prepare for your state in one of the best cities in the world.
