Since 2017, Prontopia Locals have been meeting travelers all over Italy, helping them get where they need to go in the city. Now, Prontopia is officially operating in Barcelona, Spain! For our launch, we met up with our Barcelona Locals, your local guide to Barcelona. These Locals are fun, international, love their city, and are excited to meet you through Prontopia in Barcelona to help you get around!
We asked a few of our Locals some questions so you could get to know them, too.
The weather and running in the Parque de la Ciutadella in the morning. vermouth time and also the fact that you can be at the beach in few minutes!
I was born in Barcelona and I’ve been living here almost all my life, about 30 years as I have lived abroad some period of time.
My favorite things about the city are the people, the weather and the history. Barcelona has been a welcoming city for people from all over world historically. What made me completely fall for Barcelona is the social life and the stories that my grandfather was telling me when i was a child
IF I could have a superpower, I would want to travel to the past and to future and observe them
I am from Barcelona and when I turned 25 y.o I moved to Amsterdam for 5 years and now I am back in Barcelona.
Barcelona has different vibes that other cities don’t have, I believe is justified by the fact of being surrounded by mountains and being a city situated along the sea. Weather is mild and is full of diversities of cultures. What made me fall for Barcelona and decided to move back, besides missing my family & friends, is that barcelona has many cultural and music activities all around the city, it’s people, sunny weather and food.
Going back in time, that would be my superpower.
I got 3 years ago unemployed and I became a DJ.
Music, friends and dancing!
I moved permanently to Barcelona 6 months ago, although I have been coming frequently to visit family since I was a teenager. Every time I have come I have discovered a new facet of the city.
I am a person that enjoys walking and riding my bicycle. My favorite thing about Barcelona is that it is a great city to walk. In the downtown (Gothic Quarter, Born, Raval, etc.) you barely see cars, and every corner of those narrow streets and paths unveil a gem of fascinating architecture, art, or gastronomic variety. Even when you leave downtown and move to the newer side of the city, you can appreciate how Barcelona has been designed for the people, prioritizing walkability, bicycle lanes and public spaces. The weather also helps .
What do I like to do for fun? : I am really passionate about traveling, especially low-budget traveling. I also love to explore places that are far away from big cities. My partner and I usually rent cars to do long road trips along a coast or through a mountain range, and we bring our tent and a small kitchen to camp in the route. We usually know in advance the specific places we want to go, but leave a lot of aspects of our trip to spontaneity. Many times we have changed our plans because we met people on the road that invited us to go somewhere else. In my opinion, unpredictability is the most exciting element of traveling.
